Royal Enfield "Twins" Release Event
GlobeStream Media was brought in by Royal Enfield to live stream their first North American press event highlighting the release of the new Interceptor and Continental "Twins" motorcycles. The event was simulcast globally to nearly 30 Facebook channels.
The Interceptor and Continental, affectionally known as the “twins”, marked Royal Enfield’s first foray into the mid-size motorcycle market. Having been a well known brand in India since World War II, the company was looking to the release of these new motorcycles to expand their presence in the US market.
To kick off their US marketing campaign, Royal Enfield hosted a press and media event in sunny Monterrey, California. With a beautiful beach venue selected, the final piece of the puzzle was live streaming the event to their fans, supporters, and loyal customers worldwide via their nearly 30 Facebook pages.
GlobeStream Media was contacted to provide live streaming services for the event, including stream encoding, live switching, and cameras. While on the surface it all sounds straight forward, doing a beach-side live streaming event presented some unique challenges. Aside from keeping the sand out of the equipment, the biggest challenge was internet connectivity. Leveraging bonded cellular wasn’t an option given the lack of coverage at this particular location, so we turned to the neighboring resort for connectivity. After running about 1,500 feet of fiber cabling, a solid internet connection was established and we were off and streaming.
The event, viewed by tens of thousands around the world, was a fantastic coming out party and helped put Royal Enfield on the map for American motorcycle enthusiasts.
